Summary: "While the geographic areas impacted by Hurricane Katrina are extensive, these photographs depict only a small portion of New Orleans and its environs. Most of the images were taken in the Lakeview area and in the Lower Ninth Ward which were ravaged by floodwaters from the collapse of hurricane protective levees. Some images were also taken in nearby Slidell, Louisiana. While photographing the affected areas I was constantly struck by a stillness that punctuated the losses and personal tragedies of so many people and hopefully these photographs convey some sense of that eerie quiet.
